Janek Pawlik, a Franklin, Tennessee resident, spent most of his career in engineering. At one time, in the late 1980s, Janek Pawlik worked for the automotive corporation General Motors (GM).

In February 2023, GM announced a partnership with Netflix to promote its electrical vehicles (EV). The campaign gives GM’s line of EVs a stage to showcase their innovation in car technology.

Beginning with its advertising spot, “EVs on Screen,” GM plans to continue its larger campaign of showing the public its intent to lead an all-electric future with its 2021 “Everybody In” campaign. However, this time around Netflix has agreed to increase the presence of GM’s EVs in Netflix-produced films and shows. At the same time, Netflix will work toward creating sustainability in its productions.

Because media hugely impacted culture, GM sees the partnership as an opportunity to incorporate the product through storytelling. According to GM Global Chief Marketing Deborah Wahl, Netflix makes a great partner because it has produced compelling narratives.

As a part of the partnership, Netflix will also educate creators in understanding how EVs can complement their stories. Netflix viewers can expect to see GM EVs in programs such as Love Is Blind, Queer Eye, and Unstable.
